Sexual Health

All the doctors and practice nurses can counsel you about the different types of contraception available to you such as pills, injections, coils or implants. Condoms are available free of charge from any of the doctors or the practice nurses. We can also test for sexually transmissible infections including Syphilis and HIV.

Long Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC)

Dr Gunneberg fits IUD/IUS (also known as copper or hormonal coils) and both she and Sister Halliday fit and remove subdermal implants.

If you are considering a long acting reversible form of contraception, you can make a telephone appointment with either Doctor Gunneberg (for coils and implants) or Sister Halliday (for implants) to discuss the procedure. You would then need to make a half hour appointment for the procedure itself. It would be helpful if, before you make your telephone appointment, you had already read some of the literature around LARC.

A link to information about the two different types of IUD, the copper IUD and the hormonal IUD can be found here   or here A link to information about the subdermal implant, also known as Nexplanon can be found here
